Story

Our love affair with izakayas began not on the backstreets of Tokyo, but from a new Japanese style bar in Portland, Oregon. We were blown away by the punk aesthetic, atmosphere and most of all the mind blowing food. We were hooked.

After a few trips to Japan where most evenings were spent izakaya hopping, the idea of introducing this unique eating and drinking experience in Bath came about. At Budō, we’re all about the types of Japanese (and Korean) dishes and drinks that aren’t commonly known in the UK. You won’t find any sushi at Budō.

What started at first as a secret supperclub, became Bath’s longest running pop-up above The Grapes. Having outgrown our space there, we’re now over the moon with our new home on Argyle St.
